mission statement
We believe it is important that the children in our care are guaranteed a happy
and secure environment. We will enable them to enjoy learning through play to develop
to their fullest potential.
We Aim:
- To show a commitment to the Early Years Foundation Stage (see below), this will be done through
constant provisions and daily activities to help the children learn and achieve
in different areas.
- To provide free flow play with inside and outside areas, we like the children to
have a safe and open environment to play and have adventures.
- We also like to take the children out for trips to Local Sure Start Centres, other
playgroups, other childminders, Libraries, farms, parks and any other places where
the children can learn and play safely.
- To treat every child as an individual as they all have different needs, skills and
backgrounds.
- To listen to the children and encourage them to express their ideas and positively
contribute to our childminding setting, its environment and activities.
- To provide services which are taylor made to satisfy both the children’s, parents
and our needs, by keeping them well motivated and enthusiastic.
We have CYPOP5, First Aid, Food Hygiene and Safe Guarding Certificates which you
are welcome to look at, we also have policies and procedures and risk assessments
in place which we will go through with you. So if you have any questions they can
be answered.
We will also set up a signed contract with you so we both have an understanding
of the child care we offer. All of the information you share with us will not be
shared with anyone else unless we have a signed agreement from yourselves.
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) was put into place in September 2008 and
is split into overlapping age brackets reflecting different rates that children
learn and develop at, these brackets are: birth-11 months, 8-20 months, 22-36 months,
and 40-60+ months.
The EYFS is divided into four different themes, these are:
- A Unique Child
- Positive Relationships
- Enabling Environment
- Learning and Development
Effective practice is built on these four themes, and this approach ensures that
it meets and reflects every child’s right to grow up safe, healthy, enjoying and
achieving, making a positive contribution and with economic well-being.
The EYFS sets standards to enable early years providers to reflect the experiences
that parents give their child at home, childcarers, want to deliver individualised
learning, development and care to give the children in their care the best possible
start in life.
For more information regarding the EYFS please consult their website by clicking
here.
how we will implement the EYFS
We will ensure to meet the guidelines and requirements set out in the EYFS, we will
offer continuous provision with a range of resources to offer the most to the children.
We will carry out regular observations on all the children in our care, this will
help us to monitor their progress, identify their interests and give us a starting
point for planning. Planning needs to be carried out to ensure that the children’s
development is progressed and the children are being stimulated, and any areas that
need focusing on can be identified and necessary steps can be taken.
We fully recognise that you as parents are the most knowledgeable about your child.
We would appreciate any extra insight that you can provide. The EYFS is not just
while a child is in our care it is about children as a whole, so please tell me
about things that your child has done, and is interested in so it can be included
in the observation.
